I coach lovely people aged 4 to 75+ in singing, piano and valved brass instruments, from beginners to advanced level.
I also help people with music theory, composing & songwriting, GCSE & A level music, and to prepare for auditions and ABRSM , Rockschool and Trinity Rock & Pop music exams.
"Thank you for coaching me for my Rock School Diploma. The recording went really well, including the high notes, which I was really surprised about, as I usually have such a low voice! " Kirsty
Kirsty is now studying music at Cambridge University- well done Kirsty!
My main studio is at the brilliant TCR Hub in Barnard Castle. I'm there Monday to Wednesday in the afternoons and evenings. I'm also proud to coach the fantastic young people at Teesdale School and Montalbo Primary School.
If you don't live in the North East, that's no problem- I coach students online from around the world (though please do visit sometime-it's lovely!)
"Thank you for being my teacher and mentor. I have learned so much and become more than thought I could be because of you."

Music is Fun!
I firmly believe that when you laugh, you learn, so I use fun and varied techniques to help my students understand their music more deeply. I really love helping people feel good and grow in confidence.
For me, music is a lifelong learning process, and I really enjoy helping people at all stages of their lives and musical journeys.
" Rosie was so enthusiastic and complimentary about my singing that it gave me much needed confidence. Rosie helped me to revisit my breathing, how to emphasise certain words to better tell the ‘story’ and most off all how to ENJOY my singing. I can’t thank Rosie enough for the experience and the techniques that I learnt." Astley

In our studio, we enjoy exploring all sorts of musical styles, including classical, pop, musical theatre and jazz, according to your taste. I encourage my students to improvise and write their own music too (you can read my blog to find out why this is so good for you!)
"A very big thank you for everything you have taught me. For the laughter, your endless patience, and different techniques to help me- you're the best!" Imogen, pianist, 25
I encourage all my students to perform with as many other musicians as possible, and to join bands and choirs. It's a great way to develop your skills, have fun and make new friends.

A Safe Space
"Learning with Rosie is entirely at your own pace , and I would say to anyone thinking about it to give it a go. I can honestly say after each session I have been energised and happy to be learning new skills and it has given me something to look forward to each week." Pauline
In my studio and my workshops, I'll help you build your confidence by trying a variety of new things in a safe and supportive environment.
I'm a member of the ISM, the professional body for musicians and I have an enchanced DBS check. The wellbeing of my students is at the centre of what I do. You can read my safeguarding policy here.
" Rosie I must compliment you on your expertise, and the knowledge and understanding you have given me. I have gained a new confidence in myself, that I never knew I had. Thank you! " Michael

Coaching for Choirs
Choirs are great way to meet new friends and have a lot of fun (even if you think you can't sing!)

"I like that it's really welcoming, that it doesn't take itself too seriously, we laugh as much as we sing! There's a real variety of songs, and even if it's something you haven't heard before you feel that you can get to grips with it because you're working in a group together" Judith, Shildon Railway Institute Singers
I have enjoyed coaching and conducting lots of different choirs, including Shildon Railway Institute Singers, The Manfield Warblers and the Opera North Community Chorus.

You can find out more about my work with Opera North here.
I love helping choirs have fun with their voices, keep them healthy and get ready for their next challenge. I offer small group workshops for choir members, and coaching for the whole choir.

"The practical advice for whole body awareness, engaging the correct muscles in singing posture and breathing techniques were really helpful. I find myself sitting straighter just thinking about it!" Jan
